I’m a Little Confused…

Recently a post by Jizzy over at The Letterkenyan made a reference to my review of Tony Coffey’s book Once A Catholic. For those who haven’t read the review (available here), I wasn’t terribly impressed by Mr. Coffey’s arguments – some of which flirted with an unintended gnosticism. The post refers to my review as evidence that it is not only Catholics that find Mr. Coffey’s arguments less than persuasive.
I’m flattered someone was so impressed with my review but I was a bit curious about something else in the post. It referred to this site as “a Protestant review source and definitely not sympathetic to Catholicism.” Well, I suppose as an Anglican I can be placed on the Protestant side of the aisle (although on the catholic side of Anglicanism), but I wonder how one would construe this site as definitely not sympathetic to Catholicism. If one reads the reivews categorized under Catholicism, the majority of books written by Catholics have received positive grades. Some have not but the reasons have been made pretty clear. Furthermore, I have had a pretty good relationship with a number of Catholic apologists who have thanked me for giving a fair review of their material. I’m not quite sure what the “not sympathetic” part of the site is but I suppose it might be that it’s just a Catholic thing and I wouldn’t understand.
